چکیده
The quantitative study of genetic diversity requires tools to describe quantitatively and in parallel the whole phenotypic order produce meaningful comparisons. genus Phoenix offers examples species with very different levels or heterogeneity. Within Phoenix, date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) is a major food crop global relevance. concept information entropy was introduced by Claude Shannon; although initially intended evaluate data communication systems, it has been used measure biodiversity terms richness, evenness dominance. In present work, we will use heterogeneity within taxonomic units Phoenix. description morphological work based on 596 accessions populations belonging 43 mutually exclusive (species, subspecies, varieties, landrace groups hybrids). As dioecious genus, female male individuals are described separately. Each accession sample using 116 characters totaling 449 states. Shannon index allows representation various Morphology, consistency coloration fruit seed, followed inflorescences flowers, comprise that contribute most Vegetative less than reproductive organs as whole. related Mediterranean Macaronesian taxa maximum Immediately afterwards find P. loureiroi and, behind, group pusilla. Genetic diversity analysis of date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) in the Kutch region of India using RAPD and ISSR markers
First line in abstract should be Date palm is an important fruit crop of the arid and semiarid region. In the present investigation two types of DNA based marker RAPD and ISSR were used to characterize 8 date palm genotypes grown in the Kutch region. Amplification of genomic DNA of 8 genotypes using 13 RAPD analyses yielded 88 fragments, of which 35 were polymorphic, with an average of 2.69 pol...
متن کاملDiversity of Algerian oases date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L., Arecaceae): Heterozygote excess and cryptic structure suggest farmer management had a major impact on diversity
Date palm (Phoenix dactyliferaL.) is the mainstay of oasis agriculture in the Saharan region. It is cultivated in a large part of the Mediterranean coastal area of the Sahara and in most isolated oases in the Algerian desert. We sampled 10 oases in Algeria to understand the structure of date palm diversity from the coastal area to a very isolated desert location. We used 18 microsatellite marke...

Investigating crop origins is a priority to understand the evolution of plants under domestication, develop strategies for conservation and valorization of agrobiodiversity and acquire fundamental knowledge for cultivar improvement. The date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.) belongs to the genus Phoenix, which comprises 14 species morphologically very close, sometimes hardly distinguishable. It has...
متن کاملAssessing Genetic Diversity of Shishi Date Palm Cultivars in Saudi Arabia and Qatar Using Microsatellite Markers
In this study fourteen microsatellite primer pairs were used to study the genetic diversity of Shishi Date palm in Qatar. A total of 32 date palm (15 Shishi cultivar, 10 Khalas and seven male date palms) were collected from Qatar and 5 Shihi cultivars were collected from Saudi Arabia for comparison. The Shishi set collected from Qatar was selected from different regions to represent the gene...
متن کاملNew microsatellite markers for assessment of genetic diversity in date palm (Phoenix dactylifera L.)
New primer pairs of genomic DNA microsatellite markers were tested to assess the genetic diversity of eleven date palm genotypes. The results indicated that out of thirty, only seven primers (23.3%) failed to amplify the expected PCR fragments, while thirteen primers (43.3%) amplified monomorphic banding patterns and the remaining ten primers (33.4%) generated polymorphic banding patterns. A to...
